Ryder Cup 2025 Preview: Bethpage Black Braces for Battle

Golf’s most electrifying team event returns to American soil this fall as the 45th Ryder Cup tees off September 26–28 at the legendary Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York. With Team Europe riding high after their 2023 triumph in Rome, and Team USA hungry to reclaim the trophy, the stage is set for a showdown steeped in history, passion, and fierce competition.

The Venue: Bethpage Black

Known for its brutal layout and boisterous crowds, Bethpage Black is no stranger to drama. Having hosted two U.S. Opens and a PGA Championship, it now welcomes the Ryder Cup for the first time. Expect narrow fairways, punishing rough, and a New York gallery that will be loud, proud, and unapologetically partisan.

The Teams

• Team Europe, captained again by Luke Donald, features a seasoned lineup including Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Jon Rahm, and rookie Rasmus Højgaard. Donald’s squad is largely unchanged from their Rome victory, and they’ll be looking to defy the odds and win on U.S. soil—a feat not achieved since the Miracle at Medinah in 2012.

• Team USA, led by Keegan Bradley, boasts firepower with world No.1 Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, and US Open champ JJ Spaun. Though less experienced, Bradley’s team is built for aggression and will be fueled by the home crowd.

Format & Schedule

The three-day contest includes:

• Foursomes (alternate shot) and Four-ball (best ball) matches on Friday and Saturday

• 12 singles matches on Sunday Each match is worth one point, with 14.5 needed to win the Cup. If the score ends 14–14, Europe retains the trophy.

How to Watch

Catch every swing live on Sky Sports Golf and NBC networks, with streaming available via Peacock and RyderCup.com. Coverage begins daily at 7am ET and 1pm GMT, with extended analysis and behind-the-scenes access throughout the week.
