The countdown to the 2026 Solheim Cup is officially underway, and Team Europe has unveiled a squad capable of challenging the United States for one of women's golf's most prestigious trophies. Led by Swedish major champion Anna Nordqvist, the European team heads to Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands with a compelling mixture of proven match-play stars, rising superstars, and fearless rookies.
After surrendering the trophy in 2024, Europe will be determined to reclaim the Solheim Cup on home soil. Looking at the 12-player lineup, there is every reason to believe they have assembled a team capable of doing exactly that.
The Automatic Qualifiers
Eight players secured their places through qualification, rewarding consistent performances throughout the qualifying period.
Charley Hull (England)
Now one of the veterans of European golf, Hull will be making her eighth Solheim Cup appearance. Renowned for her fearless attitude and aggressive style of play, she has become one of Europe's emotional leaders and remains one of the most dangerous match-play competitors in the world.
Esther Henseleit (Germany)
Fresh from another outstanding season, Henseleit booked her place after consistently challenging in the biggest tournaments, including an impressive runner-up finish at the AIG Women's Open. Her calm temperament makes her a valuable asset in pressure situations.
Lottie Woad (England)
Perhaps the most exciting addition to Team Europe, 22-year-old Lottie Woad arrives as one of the hottest players in world golf. After dominating as the world's leading amateur before making an immediate impact in the professional ranks, she heads into her first Solheim Cup full of confidence and expectation.
Maja Stark (Sweden)
Already a proven winner on both the LPGA and Ladies European Tour, Stark combines tremendous ball-striking with a fearless mentality. She has quickly established herself among Europe's elite and will be expected to deliver important points.
Linn Grant (Sweden)
Grant's all-round game continues to improve year after year. Powerful off the tee and composed under pressure, she has become one of Europe's most reliable performers and should play a key role throughout the week.
Céline Boutier (France)
One of the most consistent players in women's golf over recent seasons, Boutier brings major championship pedigree and invaluable Solheim Cup experience. Her steady approach often makes her an ideal partner in foursomes competition.
Carlota Ciganda (Spain)
Few players embrace the Solheim Cup atmosphere quite like Ciganda. Passionate, emotional and fiercely competitive, the Spanish star has produced countless memorable moments for Europe and remains one of the team's inspirational figures.
Nanna Koerstz Madsen (Denmark)
The Danish star adds further experience and quality to the European lineup. Known for her powerful game and ability to make birdies in bunches, Madsen is capable of changing the momentum of any session.
Anna Nordqvist's Captain's Picks
Captain Anna Nordqvist completed her squad with four carefully selected wildcards, balancing experience with exciting new talent.
Leona Maguire (Ireland)
Despite a difficult season by her own high standards, Maguire's incredible Solheim Cup record made her selection almost impossible to ignore. One of Europe's greatest-ever match-play performers, she has repeatedly thrived under the unique pressure of team competition and will once again be a cornerstone of the side.
Mimi Rhodes (England)
One of England's brightest young stars, Rhodes earns her maiden Solheim Cup appearance following an impressive breakthrough season. Fearless and full of confidence, she represents the next generation of European golf.
Julia López Ramírez (Spain)
The Spanish rookie has developed into one of Europe's most exciting young professionals. Her consistency and competitive mindset impressed Captain Nordqvist enough to earn a deserved wildcard.
Nastasia Nadaud (France)
France's rising talent completes the European team after a season of impressive performances. Another Solheim Cup debutant, Nadaud gives Europe additional depth and youthful enthusiasm.
A Well-Balanced Team
Europe's greatest strength may be its balance.
The experienced core of Hull, Ciganda, Boutier, Maguire and Madsen provides invaluable leadership, while Stark, Grant and Henseleit are entering the prime of their careers. Add the explosive potential of newcomers Woad, Rhodes, López Ramírez and Nadaud, and Europe possesses one of its deepest squads in recent memory.
Captain Anna Nordqvist has also surrounded herself with an experienced leadership group as she prepares for her first Solheim Cup as captain, aiming to create an environment where both veterans and rookies can thrive.
Can Europe Win It Back?
Playing in front of passionate European supporters at Bernardus Golf Club from 11–13 September, Team Europe will enjoy home advantage as they attempt to wrestle the Solheim Cup back from the United States.
Much may depend on how quickly the rookies settle into the unique atmosphere, but history shows that the Solheim Cup often creates new stars overnight. With Charley Hull leading the charge, Leona Maguire bringing her outstanding match-play pedigree, and Lottie Woad arriving as one of golf's brightest new talents, Europe appears perfectly equipped to mount a serious challenge.
One thing is certain: when the opening tee shot is struck in the Netherlands, Team Europe will believe they have every chance of bringing the Solheim Cup back where they believe it belongs.
