Drama, Rain & Redemption: The 2025 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth

The 2025 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club delivered everything fans of the DP World Tour could hope for—high stakes, elite competition, and a nail-biting playoff finish that crowned Sweden’s Alex Noren as champion once again.

A Rain-Soaked Showdown

Held from September 11–14 on the historic West Course in Surrey, England, the tournament was drenched in drama and literal downpours. Despite the soggy conditions, the field was stacked with talent, including 11 of the 12 European Ryder Cup team members, all using the event as a final tune-up before heading to Bethpage Black.

The Final Battle

After four rounds of intense play, Alex Noren and France’s Adrien Saddier were tied at 19-under-par, three shots clear of the rest of the field. The playoff took place on Wentworth’s iconic par-5 18th hole. Saddier’s birdie attempt from 17 feet missed, while Noren’s pitch nestled just two feet from the pin—he calmly sank the putt to clinch his second title at Wentworth, having first won in 1997.

Big Purse, Bigger Implications

With a $9 million purse on the line, Noren pocketed $1.53 million for his victory. Saddier earned $990,000 as runner-up, while Patrick Reed and Aaron Rai tied for third at 16-under, each taking home $508,500. Beyond the money, Noren also secured 1,335 Race to Dubai points and 50.4 Official World Golf Ranking points, solidifying his place among the season’s elite.

Ryder Cup Momentum

The timing of the BMW PGA Championship couldn’t have been more critical. With the Ryder Cup looming, players like Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, and Tyrrell Hatton were looking to sharpen their form. McIlroy, fresh off a win at the Irish Open, finished T20 at 12-under—not quite the result he hoped for, but still a solid outing ahead of the transatlantic showdown.

More Than Just Golf

Wentworth’s “Festival of Golf” atmosphere added extra sparkle to the week. From the celebrity Pro-Am to live music and premium hospitality experiences like The Ballroom and Green on 18, the event was a full-blown celebration of sport and culture.

Whether you're a die-hard golf fan or just dipping your toes into the DP World Tour, the 2025 BMW PGA Championship was a reminder of why Wentworth remains one of the crown jewels of European golf. With legends rising, rookies shining, and the Ryder Cup on the horizon, this year’s edition was one for the books.
