The windswept fairways of Scotland once again played host to one of golf’s most beloved tournaments — the 2025 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Held from October 2–5 across the iconic trio of courses — St Andrews, Carnoustie, and Kingsbarns — this year’s edition was a celebration of grit, glamour, and a homegrown hero’s rise to glory.
Weather Drama and a Shortened Showdown
Storm Amy swept through the region, forcing organizers to reduce the event to 54 holes. Saturday’s play was canceled due to high winds, but the drama on the course remained electric. With a two-tee start on Sunday across all three venues, players scrambled to make their mark in a condensed format that demanded precision and poise.
Robert MacIntyre: A Week to Remember
Fresh off Team Europe’s Ryder Cup victory at Bethpage Black, Scottish star Robert MacIntyre capped a dream week by clinching the Alfred Dunhill Links title with a flawless trio of 66s — finishing at 18-under par. His ability to control the ball in blustery conditions proved decisive, as he outpaced Ryder Cup teammate Tyrrell Hatton by four strokes.
MacIntyre’s win marked his fourth career DP World Tour victory and his second triumph on Scottish soil, following his 2024 Scottish Open win. The victory earned him a handsome €696,437.23 from the €4.2 million purse.
Hatton and Sterne Chase the Crown
Tyrrell Hatton, a three-time Dunhill champion, put up a valiant fight, finishing second at 14-under. South Africa’s Richard Sterne rounded out the podium at 13-under, showcasing consistency across the challenging links.
Celebrities, Camaraderie, and Carnoustie
As always, the Dunhill Links wasn’t just about the pros. The pro-am format brought together 168 professionals and 168 celebrities, including Bill Murray, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Wayne Gretzky, and Andy Murray. The event’s relaxed vibe and star-studded lineup made it Europe’s answer to Pebble Beach — a blend of elite competition and entertainment.
A Celebration of Scottish Golf
MacIntyre’s win was more than a personal milestone — it was a celebration of Scottish golf. Winning on home turf, just days after helping Europe retain the Ryder Cup, made this victory all the more poignant. “Any time you can win a golf tournament on these shores is unbelievable,” MacIntyre said, beaming with pride.
Whether you came for the leaderboard drama, the celebrity sightings, or the sheer beauty of links golf, the 2025 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship delivered. And for Scotland, it was a week to remember — with a champion who made the home crowd proud.
